My approach to psychotherapy is to provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment where I listen empathically to help you resolve issues you struggle with. I see therapy as a collaborative process in which we identify your unique concerns, goals, and develop a highly personalized treatment approach.

I consider myself an eclectic therapist which means I draw from the following types of treatment depending on what I deem to be most effective for your unique set of circumstances.

I AM SKILLED IN THE FOLLOWING TECHNIQUES:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a type of psychotherapy that provides clients with new coping skills and focuses on building therapeutic skills in 4 key areas:

    1) Mindfulness - being present in the given moment

    2) Distress Tolerance - increasing one's tolerance for painful emotions

    3) Emotion Regulation - developing strategies to cope with periods of intense emotion, which can lead to problematic behaviors

    4) Interpersonal Effectiveness - creating more harmonious relationships, helping us to communicate more effectively with others, and strengthening our sense of connectedness

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Cognitive Behavior Therapy it as a type of psychotherapy that helps people learn how to identify and change destructive thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotion, which contribute to low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and distorted beliefs about oneself. The goals of CBT therapy include developing an awareness of these automatic and distorted thoughts, including how they can manifest themselves in the body and replace them with more compassion and a realistic, positive view of oneself.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy. Psychodynamic Therapy is a type of treatment that focuses on historical relationship patterns which manifest themselves in the present. Exploring the origins of thoughts and feelings can improve one’s relationships, decrease anxiety and gain more pleasure in daily experiences.

I have a special interest in the connection between the body and the brain. Developing awareness of where we hold tension, stress and pain in the body is highly effective as it can promote a sense of well being, calmness and a decrease in pain. and discomfort.


INSURANCE ACCEPTED

I am an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Medicare. I will take care of submitting the necessary documentation for reimbursement. If you decide to pay out of pocket, you will receive an invoice at the end of the month.
